IndiGo is all set to expand its domestic as well as international network as a part of its larger capacity expansion plan. On the international front the airline launched its second oversees flight from Pune, Maharashtra to Dubai offering a daily service from November 22, 2024.

With this new addition by IndiGo, the airline will now operate 383 average weekly flights out of Pune offering direct connectivity to over 25 destinations in India and two international destinations.

The daily connectivity between Pune and Dubai will enhance accessibility between the two cities and introduce new avenues for business and job opportunities for travelers, IndiGo claims.

"With the introduction of these flights, IndiGo will now operate over 100 weekly, direct, flights to Dubai from 13 cities in India, and now offers a wide choice of more than 225 weekly flights into the UAE from 18 cities in India," said Vinay Malhotra, head, global sales, IndiGo.

Apart from the Middle East, IndiGo is also planning to launch direct flights to Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia over the next few months. According to airline sources, IndiGo is planning to start thrice weekly service from Chennai International Airport and Penang International Airport in Malaysia and another daily service connecting Mumbai to Langkawi starting December 20, 2024. Apart from the above two, IndiGo is also planning to launch a daily service connecting Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Manas International Airport in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan starting February 15, 2025.

IndiGo has already received approvals from the governments of India, Kyrgyzstan, and Malaysia to start operations and the airline is now finalising the airport slots and timings. However, IndiGo has not yet made an official announcement on these routes.

The proposes flights are part of IndiGo's plans to expand its international reach and enhance its cargo operations in the coming years as part of a broader strategy to position India’s largest airline as a leading global carrier by 2030.

In the post-earnings call last week, Pieter Elbers, chief executive of IndiGo hinted that IndiGo plans to grow its international destinations to 40 by the end of this financial year.

Going ahead, the airline is also planning to expand its international network with new routes and higher frequencies to Singapore, Kuwait, and Sri Lanka. The airline will has introduced a daily direct flight connecting Singapore and Coimbatore from October 27, 2024 and new service to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Port Louis, Mauritius, from November 19, 2024.

IndiGo plans to step up its connectivity to Singapore from 72 weekly flights from nine Indian cities to Colombo from 37 weekly flights from four Indian cities, and to Kuwait from 34 weekly flights from five Indian cities.

On the domestic front, IndiGo recently launched a new service connecting Dibrugarh, Assam to Bengaluru. The new route will operate three days a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The schedule on the new route is as follows:

  • Flight 6E 524 will depart from Bengaluru at 09:45 and arrive in Dibrugarh at 14:20 (2:20 pm).
  • Flight 6E 525 will depart from Dibrugarh at 15:00 (3:00 pm), arriving in Bengaluru at 19:55 (7:00 pm).
     

The airline will also start flights connecting Nashik-Indore-Jaipur from October 29, 2024 eyeing the rising passenger demand on this route. With this new service, passengers can reach Jaipur from Nashik in mere three hours.
