Ahmedabad: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Kuwait was diverted to Ahmedabad on Friday morning after a bomb threat was discovered on board, airport officials confirmed.

The aircraft, carrying 180 passengers, landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at approximately 6:40 am. Preliminary security sweeps of the plane have yielded nothing suspicious.

According to airport authorities, the alert was triggered after a passenger found a handwritten note on a piece of paper claiming that an explosive device was on the aircraft. Upon being notified of the message, the pilot contacted air traffic control and requested an immediate diversion to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure.

Emergency protocols were activated upon arrival, and the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay. All passengers were safely evacuated from the cabin to allow for a comprehensive search by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and airport security personnel.

"So far, no suspicious object has been recovered. The flight may take off after getting a final go-ahead," a senior airport official said.

The incident comes amid a period of heightened security vigilance for Indian carriers following several recent hoax threats across the country's aviation network. Security agencies and local police have initiated an investigation to identify the origin of the note.
