New Delhi: On Monday, people across India celebrated Lord Krishna’s birthday with great enthusiasm. Temples around the country were bustling with activity as devotees gathered to mark Krishna Janmashtami.

The air was filled with the sounds of bells, drums, and conch shells as temples dedicated to Radha and Krishna rang with festive cheer. Temples were beautifully decorated with vibrant lights and flowers to honour the occasion.

In Ahmedabad, the ISKCON Temple saw a large turnout of devotees eager to get a glimpse of Lord Krishna. Similar scenes were seen at the ISKCON Temple in East of Kailash, where many gathered for the special celebration.

The Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, also known as the Birla Temple, held a special morning aarti in celebration of Krishna Janmashtami. This tradition was also followed at the ISKCON Temple in Dwarka and Chowpatty's ISKCON Temple in Mumbai.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Jugal Kishore Ji Temple dazzled with colourful lights, and in Manali, a large crowd gathered at Mall Road for the Krishna Janmashtami event organised by ISKCON.

Security was tight in Mathura, where more than 2,000 personnel were deployed at the Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple to ensure a safe celebration. Drones were also used to monitor the area, according to Mathura Superintendent (Security) Bajrang Bali Chaurasia.

"More than 2000 security personnel have been deployed and the entire region has been divided into three regions. On every zone, an additional SP has been deployed...Proper parking arrangements have been made...Gate no. 3 is the entry point for the devotees...UP CM Yogi Adityanath will also be arriving...Teams of ATS, commandos and fire services are also deployed...Drones are also being used to ensure security and safety," he said.

Krishna Janmashtami, celebrated this year on August 26, is marked by fasting, decorating homes and temples with flowers and lights, and special prayers. The festivities are particularly grand in Mathura and Vrindavan, where it is believed Lord Krishna spent his childhood.
