Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Indian medical student bodies have assured that all students from India currently pursuing studies in Iran are safe, urging families not to worry despite the tense situation in the country. The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) and the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) said on Sunday that they have been in continuous touch with students across Iran.

Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of AIMSA and FAIMA Doctors Association, said that both organisations have been receiving direct updates from students confirming their well-being. Many students, he noted, have reached out personally to convey reassurance to their families. "All our students are safe. There is no need to panic," Dr Khan said in an official statement.

He added that the Indian Embassy and senior government officials are closely tracking developments and are maintaining regular contact with students and local authorities to ensure their safety.

The two organisations stated that communication channels are functioning smoothly and that any significant updates will be shared promptly to prevent misinformation or unnecessary concern among families.

The reassurance follows anxieties expressed by families of students studying in Iran. AIMSA and FAIMA emphasised that there is no immediate threat to Indian nationals, though the situation continues to be monitored.

According to the US-based human rights group HRANA, at least 116 people have died since protests erupted in Iran, which have now spread across 30 provinces amid escalating violence.
