Special trains have also been introduced to further ease travel, enhancing connectivity across various regions.

New Delhi: Indian Railways has responded to a surge in passenger demand following widespread flight cancellations by deploying 116 additional coaches on 37 premium trains covering 114 enhanced trips nationwide.
According to a Railway Ministry press release, Southern Railway led with augmentations in 18 trains, adding Chair Car and Sleeper Class coaches on key high-demand routes, effective from December 6, 2025, significantly boosting capacity in the southern region.

Northern Railway followed with improvements on eight trains, introducing 3AC and Chair Car coaches to boost availability on heavily travelled northern corridors.
Western Railway increased four high-demand trains by adding 3AC and 2AC coaches, addressing strong passenger flows from western regions to the national capital.
East Central Railway enhanced the Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi (12309) route with extra 2AC coaches over five trips from December 6 to 10, augmenting Bihar-Delhi connectivity.
East Coast Railway upgraded the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi services (Trains 20817/20811/20823) with additional 2AC coaches across five trips, improving Odisha-capital linkages.
Eastern Railway added Sleeper Class coaches on three key trains over six trips on December 7 and 8 to meet rising regional and inter-state travel demand in the east.
Northeast Frontier Railway enhanced two important trains with 3AC and Sleeper coaches over eight trips each between December 6 and 13 to maintain robust capacity for northeast travellers.
In addition to augmentations, Indian Railways is operating four special trains to further assist passengers:
- Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur Special (05591/05592) for four trips from December 7-9.
- New Delhi-Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan-New Delhi Reserved Vande Bharat Special (02439/02440) on December 6, offering fast and comfortable Jammu connectivity.
- New Delhi-Mumbai Central-New Delhi Reserved Superfast Special (04002/04001) operating December 6 and 7 to meet the western sector demand.
- Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Central Reserved Superfast Special (04080) running one-way on December 6 to enhance southern region connectivity
