New Delhi: India on Friday responded to US President Donald Trump's remarks about Pakistan testing nuclear weapons, stating that Pakistan’s “clandestine” nuclear activities reflect a long history of smuggling, export control violations, and secret partnerships.

"Clandestine and illegal nuclear activities are in keeping with Pakistan's history, that is centred around decades of smuggling, export control violations, secret partnerships," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at his weekly media briefing.

Trump had recently named Pakistan among the countries testing nuclear weapons to justify the US administration’s plan to resume its own nuclear testing after over thirty years.

He said during a media briefing that India has consistently alerted the international community about Pakistan’s clandestine and illegal nuclear activities.

He acknowledged India’s attention to President Trump’s comments regarding Pakistan’s nuclear testing. "In this backdrop, we have taken note of President Trump's comment about Pakistan's nuclear testing," he said.
