Imphal: Security forces in Manipur recovered an improvised long-range rocket carrying nearly 40 kg of explosives from Gelmol village in Churachandpur district on Tuesday, officials said on Wednesday.

In a separate operation in Kangpokpi district, forces recovered a large cache of arms. Items recovered from the vicinity of Songlung village included a German rifle, two bolt-action rifles, four pull mechanism rifles, an improvised mortar, two hand grenades, detonators, and a radio set, police said.
Additional weapons were seized from the Gelbung jungle in Churachandpur. Among these were a CMG carbine, a .303 rifle, two pistols, nine bolt-action rifles, a country-made SBBL, one locally made grenade, three pieces of plastic explosives, and two handsets, authorities added.
These operations highlight ongoing efforts by security forces to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and explosives in the region. PTI
