New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a high-level review of the security scenario along the Indo-Pak border and at airports across the country, amid the ongoing military standoff between India and Pakistan, according to sources.

The meeting took place shortly after the Border Security Force (BSF) reported that it had thwarted an infiltration attempt across the International Border in Jammu, killing at least seven terrorists and demolishing a Pakistan Rangers outpost.

Sources said the Home Minister assessed the overall situation on the western front and reviewed the measures in place to fortify security at civil aviation facilities across India.

The BSF is responsible for guarding the India-Pakistan border, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) oversees security at airports, Metro rail systems and key government installations.

The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka and the chiefs of BSF, CISF and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours have surged following India’s precision strikes on terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday. Pakistan’s subsequent attempts to target Indian military positions on Thursday were successfully repelled by Indian forces.
