TMC’s explosive video claim puts Humayun Kabir at the centre of a ₹1000 crore deal row, alleging backchannel links with top BJP leaders and triggering fresh demands for an ED probe ahead of Bengal polls.

Kolkata: In a political bombshell ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday released a purported video of Humayun Kabir, alleging his involvement in a staggering ₹1000 crore deal with a ₹300 crore advance component, and demanded an immediate probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The video, whose authenticity has not been independently verified, allegedly captures Kabir in a detailed conversation with an unidentified individual. Watch the viral clipping below:
While the other person remains unseen, Kabir is visible and the audio of the exchange is clear, revealing claims of massive financial negotiations, political backchanneling, and communal mobilisation strategies.
According to TMC, the conversation suggests Kabir discussing a ₹1000 crore arrangement, openly stating he would retain ₹300 crore upfront, drawing parallels with political developments in Bihar under Nitish Kumar.
The remarks, if verified, could trigger serious legal and political consequences.
Even more explosively, the video allegedly contains controversial statements about manipulating religious sentiments.
Kabir is heard claiming that invoking the Babri Masjid issue was a calculated move to tap into Muslim emotions, suggesting that “using another name wouldn’t have the same emotional impact.”
The clip further hints at alleged covert political coordination. Kabir is purportedly heard referencing communications with senior BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, and claims of connections with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He allegedly suggests that he was promised a Deputy Chief Minister post if certain electoral outcomes materialise.
In one of the most politically sensitive portions, Kabir is heard suggesting a dual strategy, maintaining covert ties with opposition leaders while publicly attacking them during the campaign.
The BJP has not yet issued a detailed response to the claims made in the video. Meanwhile, TMC has sharpened its attack, calling the revelations “deeply disturbing” and urging central agencies to step in.
With the state heading into a high-stakes electoral battle, the controversy is expected to further intensify the already volatile political climate in Bengal.
