Mumbai: A 27-year-old housemaid was found dead after allegedly hanging herself in the gallery of a flat in the Antop Hill area of central Mumbai, police said.
Officers said the reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear. Police are in contact with the woman’s relatives to gather information that might shed light on what led her to take such an extreme step.
The woman had been working for the past two years at a third-floor flat in Kalpak Apartment, Antop Hill, owned by a 72-year-old senior citizen couple. She also lived in the same residence, according to officials.
Investigators have questioned the couple as part of their ongoing inquiries.
A case of accidental death has been registered.
