A 41-year-old woman from Ras Al Khaimah was found dead in a hotel room near Jaffer Khan Colony Road in Kozhikode on Friday, August 14.

The deceased was identified as Zainab Ali Juma Mohammad Al Marzooqi. She had reportedly arrived in Kerala with her family last week as part of an international trip.

Parents reported death

The incident came to the attention of the Nadakkavu police on Friday evening. Her parents, who were accompanying her, informed the police after finding her unresponsive in the hotel room.

Police reached the hotel and began inquest proceedings. The body was later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Cause of death yet to be confirmed

Police sources said the exact cause of death can be established only after the post-mortem report.

A cardiac arrest is suspected at this stage. The woman was also reportedly suffering from various ailments.

Police have not confirmed the cause of death pending the medical examination.

Kerala seeks more Arab tourists

The death comes as Kerala is seeking to strengthen its appeal among tourists from Arab countries, who are an important segment of the state's foreign tourist market.

The state is targeting a significant increase in visitors from the Arab world over the coming years. An upcoming tourism event in Kochi is also expected to bring Arab travel agents and tour operators to Kerala.
