Chennai: Amidst the ongoing row over the National Education Policy (NEP) and its 3-language policy, Hindi portions of signboards at the Post office and BSNL office in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, were found blackened.
The row erupted after the NEP proposed the inclusion of Hindi alongside Tamil and English as part of the three-language requirement in schools.
The row over the 3-language policy in the National Education Policy (NEP) revolves around the requirement for students in India to learn three languages in schools: Hindi, English, and a regional language. The policy, introduced in 2020, aims to promote multilingualism and strengthen the learning of Indian languages.
Tamil Nadu has been vocal in its opposition to the promotion of Hindi, citing concerns over regional language autonomy and the imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi speaking states.
