This coincides with a 'Dry Day' prohibition on alcohol sales, with strict enforcement expected

Panaji: The Goa government on Tuesday announced that all casinos in the state will remain shut on October 2, 2025, in observance of Gandhi Jayanti. This decision, issued by the Department of Home (General), is a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi.
According to the official notification, all casino licensees are required to halt gaming operations from 12 am on October 2 to 12 am on October 3, ensuring a full 24-hour closure. Goa has six offshore casinos along with several onshore casinos operating within five-star hotels.
The shutdown coincides with the state also observing a 'Dry Day' on Gandhi Jayanti, where the sale of alcohol will be prohibited across Goa, including bars, restaurants, and retail outlets, as a tribute to the Father of the Nation.
The government has urged both locals and tourists to cooperate with these regulations as a mark of respect during the national holiday dedicated to Gandhiji's legacy. Strict action will be taken against any violations of the shutdown or dry day orders.
