Multiple groups have announced protests and mobilisation programmes on October 2, with CJP, AISA-linked activists and the INDIA Bloc among those planning demonstrations.

October 2, observed as Gandhi Jayanti, will see multiple political and civil society programmes across India, with the Election Commission, electoral rolls, and democratic institutions emerging as key themes.
The planned activities involve different groups and are separate from one another, with programmes announced by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the All India Students' Association (AISA)-linked group of activists and student leaders, and the INDIA Bloc.
Here is a complete list of the major October 2 protests and demonstrations currently announced:
- CJP protest in Mumbai
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a protest in Mumbai on October 2, raising demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the functioning of the Election Commission.
The CJP had initially planned its protest at Shivaji Park. However, Mumbai Police denied permission for the proposed gathering.
The party has subsequently announced a Jail Bharo Andolan as part of its October 2 mobilisation. - AISA-linked protest at Jantar Mantar
A separate protest involving activists and student leaders, including members of AISA, has been announced at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 2.
The programme is scheduled for 11 am and is centred on concerns over the functioning of the Election Commission, electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Organisers have also raised a demand for the ‘impeachment’ of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
As of the latest reports, the organisers had informed Delhi Police about the programme, but permission for the protest had not been granted. - INDIA Bloc's 'Save Democracy' marches
The INDIA Bloc has also announced a wider 'Save Democracy' campaign beginning October 2.
The programme is scheduled to continue until October 8, with marches planned across districts. Demonstrations are expected to be held outside district magistrates' offices as part of the campaign.
The INDIA Bloc's programme is separate from the CJP and AISA-linked protest in Delhi and should not be treated as a single nationwide demonstration. - What about the 'No UPI Day' protest?
Trader organisations had earlier announced a 'No UPI Day' on October 2 to oppose proposed Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) charges on certain UPI transactions.
However, the situation changed after some major trader bodies withdrew their participation following discussions with the government.
Therefore, the October 2 UPI protest should not be described as a confirmed nationwide agitation. Some individual or regional trader organisations may still participate. - MPSC students' October 2 protest postponed
An agitation by MPSC students that had earlier been linked to October 2 has also been postponed following talks with the Maharashtra government.
Therefore, MPSC students should not be included in the list of confirmed October 2 protests unless a fresh announcement is made.
With Gandhi Jayanti coinciding with these separate political and civil society programmes, October 2 is set to see demonstrations and mobilisation in several parts of the country.
However, the programmes differ in their organisers, locations and demands, and some are subject to local police permission.
