New Delhi: A fire broke out at the Ashok Vihar police station in Delhi on Wednesday morning, prompting immediate evacuation and a rapid response by emergency services.

According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the fire originated around 10:30 AM in the office of the ATO/Inspector due to a suspected short circuit.

Three fire tenders were quickly dispatched to the site and managed to bring the flames under control without any reported casualties. “The police station was immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure,” DFS officials said in a statement.

The incident comes a day after another fire broke out at BM Gupta Hospital’s dental wing in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi. That fire, which began at approximately 8:00 PM on Tuesday, was contained after nearly an hour and a half using 11 fire tenders.

The hospital fire reportedly started in the nurses’ hostel on the second floor and spread to parts of the third floor housing medical records. Thankfully, all 15–20 patients and 20 staff members present at the time were safely evacuated. The building includes a chemist shop on the ground floor, OPD services on the first floor, and accommodations and records on the upper levels.

Authorities are continuing investigations into both incidents, with electrical faults suspected as the primary cause.
