Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu): TVK leader Vijay has solidified his political arrival by securing a second decisive win, this time in the Tiruchirapalli East constituency. This victory follows his earlier success in Perambur, marking a major realignment in the state’s political order.

In Tiruchirapalli East, Vijay garnered a total of 91,381 votes, finishing with a comfortable winning margin of 27,416 votes.

The win in the Rockfort city completes a double victory for the actor-turned-politician, who had already posted a massive win in Perambur with an even larger margin of 53,715 votes.

A groundswell of support

The campaign in Tiruchirapalli was characterised by intense energy and massive public engagement. Vijay’s outreach spanned the entire constituency, from high-energy rallies in the historic Gandhi Market to intimate gatherings throughout the densely populated Rockfort area. Observers noted that the unprecedented crowds at these events signaled a "seismic shift" in voter sentiment long before the first ballots were counted.

The scene at the Loyola College counting center in Chennai on Monday night transcended typical political celebrations. As the final verdict was flashed on the scoreboard—confirming 1,20,365 votes for C Joseph Vijay—the atmosphere mirrored a film premiere rather than a government administrative exercise.

In a rare breach of professional stoicism, nearly every official on duty, including the Returning Officer, scrambled for a vantage point to catch a glimpse of the TVK chief. While the TVK candidate in Sholinganallur technically holds the party's highest margin so far (winning by 96,370 votes with a total of 2,19,972), the star power was concentrated in Loyola College.

Personnel reportedly waited for over two hours just to see Vijay in person. One female employee, who moved to the very edge of a grilled balcony to secure a view, remarked, "I could not see him when he came for campaigning, due to work commitments. This probably is my only chance to see him this close."

The surge of emotion from both the public and the officials present underscored the unique intersection of celebrity and political authority that Vijay now commands as he officially receives his winner's certificate.

By winning both seats, the TVK chief has demonstrated a broad appeal that bridges different regions of the state, establishing his party as a formidable new force in the legislative assembly.
