Jammu: In Doda district of Jammu, an Army captain was critically injured, and four terrorists were reportedly killed during an ongoing operation on Wednesday, officials confirmed.
The clash occurred in a dense forest area during a cordon and search operation (CASO) launched by a joint security team. They were searching for foreign terrorists hiding in the Shivgarh-Assar region.
Officials recovered four blood-soaked rucksacks and M-4 carbines from the scene of the gunfight. "The terrorists are holed up in a riverine in Assar," an official said.
The terrorists had entered Doda from a forested area near Patnitop in the Udhampur district, following a brief firefight with security forces in that area.
According to officials, the security forces made contact with the terrorists around 6 pm on Tuesday in Udhampur. The firefight began about 30 minutes later and continued intermittently until a temporary pause was observed. A cordon was set up for the night.
The search resumed at dawn, and around 7:30 am today, a fresh exchange of gunfire took place.
