A shocking accident involving Diwali firecrackers in Andhra Pradesh has left one person dead and six others injured.

The incident happened around noon in the Eluru district when a man transporting a shipment of firecrackers, known as "onion bombs," lost control of his bike on a busy street near a local temple. The firecrackers fell off the vehicle and detonated upon impact with the road.

CCTV footage captured the explosion as the vehicle approached a junction, sending dark grey smoke and debris into the air. Bystanders and pedestrians in the vicinity were left disoriented by the blast, with two men seen clutching their ears and seeking assistance from nearby residents.

Reports indicate that the "onion bombs" had explosive potential comparable to improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The bike rider sustained fatal injuries, while six others were rushed to the district hospital, where two are reported to be in critical condition.

The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
