Delhi sees marginal air quality improvement as AQI falls to ‘very poor’, though hotspots like Wazirpur and Jahangirpuri remain ‘severe’.

After days of choking smog, Delhi saw a small but noticeable improvement in air quality on Tuesday morning. The change brought limited relief to residents who have been living under ‘severe’ pollution levels for several days.
AQI drops from severe to very poor
Data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app showed Delhi’s air quality index at 381 at 6.30 am on Tuesday. This placed the city in the ‘very poor’ category, a step down from the ‘severe’ levels recorded earlier.
Pollution hotspots remain
Despite the overall improvement, several areas continued to struggle. Wazirpur recorded the highest pollution level with an AQI of 434, followed by Jahangirpuri at 430. Monitoring stations in Mundka, Delhi Technical University and Nehru Nagar also remained in the ‘severe’ range, with readings between 420 and 424.
A grim recent trend
On Monday, Delhi’s average AQI stood at 427, marking the third straight day of ‘severe’ air pollution across the capital.
