Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday denied allegations that three boys carrying food for protesters at Jantar Mantar had been detained at Nizamuddin Police Station, describing claims circulating on social media as "false and misleading".
In a statement, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) said police personnel had neither stopped nor prevented anyone from transporting food to the protest site.

The police said that while identity verification was underway, the driver left the spot with the vehicle and all the belongings. During questioning, the occupants informed officers that the food items were intended for protesters at Jantar Mantar.
The driver, police added, had been arranged by a friend of one of the occupants and was not personally known to them.
The DCP further stated that the officers conducting the checks were not aware that the food was meant for protesters.
Calling the allegations "baseless and malicious", the Delhi Police said its personnel were carrying out routine verification in accordance with standard procedures and alleged that the viral claims were intended to misrepresent a routine security check.
