New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly Budget session will be held from March 23 to 25, 2026, following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday.

According to officials, the Economic Survey report will be tabled on March 23, while the Delhi government’s Budget for 2026-27 will be presented on March 24.

Major infrastructure projects approved

During the meeting, the Delhi Cabinet approved two major road infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving commuting across the national capital:

  1. Barapullah Phase-III Elevated Corridor – A revised cost of ₹1,635.03 crore has been sanctioned for construction of the elevated road over the Barapullah drain, connecting Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar. The project is an extension of the existing Barapullah elevated corridor and will provide direct, signal-free connectivity from Mayur Vihar in East Delhi to AIIMS in South Delhi, significantly reducing travel time for thousands of daily commuters.
    • The corridor is expected to ease congestion around Sarai Kale Khan, Ring Road, DND Flyway and NH-24.
    • Target completion date: June 30, 2026.

  1. Six-lane elevated road with underpasses on MB Road – Stretching from Saket G-Block to Pul Prahladpur, this project is estimated to cost ₹1,471.14 crore and will be executed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The initiative will be implemented in two phases and aims to modernise Delhi’s road network while reducing traffic bottlenecks.

Chief Minister Gupta said these projects will provide relief to millions of commuters, enhance connectivity across the city, and contribute to the government’s vision of a ‘Viksit Delhi’, in line with the national goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Cabinet’s approval of these infrastructure initiatives reflects Delhi’s focus on modernising urban transport, reducing congestion, and improving commuter experience ahead of the new fiscal year.
