Dausa: At least 20 people were injured after a Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus collided with a truck on the Agra Bypass in Dausa, Rajasthan, during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The bus was travelling from Aligarh to Jaipur when the accident occurred at around 4.30am near Tiwari Cut on the bypass. Most of the passengers were reportedly asleep at the time of the collision.

Eyewitnesses said a loud crash was heard as the bus ploughed into the rear of a trailer truck travelling ahead. The force of the impact severely damaged the front section of the bus, throwing several passengers from their seats and causing multiple injuries.

Police from Kotwali police station rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the accident. With assistance from local residents, officers rescued the injured passengers and arranged for them to be transported by ambulance to Dausa District Hospital.

Head Constable Anil Kumar said the cause of the crash had not yet been established.

"It was a UP Roadways bus travelling from Aligarh to Jaipur. The accident occurred at Tiwari Cut on the bypass, where the bus collided with a trailer truck. Around 20 people were injured and are currently undergoing treatment at Dausa District Hospital," he said.

According to police, the injured include five to six women, while the remaining victims are men.

Dr Ashish, the night-duty Chief Medical Officer at Dausa District Hospital, said all of those injured were in a stable condition.

"A total of 20 people have been brought to the hospital following the accident. Everyone is stable and has sustained minor injuries. They are currently receiving treatment," he said.

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash may have been caused by the driver misjudging the distance between the bus and the truck ahead, although excessive speed has not been ruled out. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the incident.
