Jaipur: A Cockroach Janata Party team faced resistance from residents during a school inspection in Jaipur's Bagru constituency, with CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka alleging that workers were assaulted and vehicles and phones damaged.

What happened in Rampura Kanwarpura?

The CJP team visited Rampura Kanwarpura village on Friday as part of its ongoing ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which focuses on the condition of government schools.

According to PTI, residents barricaded the approach road before the team arrived and later pushed the activists out of the area. Villagers subsequently staged a sit-in outside the school and raised slogans against the CJP.

The Bagru DSP, Dharmendra Sharma, said he was unaware of the reported incident.

Why was the CJP team there?

The team had planned to inspect government schools in Jaipur district, including the condition of school buildings, infrastructure and facilities available to students.

Ranka said the school in Rampura Kanwarpura had been operating from a cattle enclosure after its original building was declared unsafe.

Villagers said the building could be repaired locally and claimed that the government had already sanctioned funds for the work.

Ranka alleges attack

Ranka alleged that his team was attacked before it could complete the inspection.

He claimed that vehicle windows were smashed, phones were broken, a woman was assaulted and one team member suffered a fractured hand. He also alleged that stones were thrown at the group.

Ranka accused people he described as “BJP goons” of being present at the site and demanded action against those allegedly involved.

The allegations have not been independently established in the material provided.

Ranka gave Education Minister Madan Dilawar 48 hours to take action and withdraw the order restricting outsiders and media personnel from entering government schools without a specific reason.

He threatened a statewide agitation if his demands were not met and said the campaign would also seek Dilawar's resignation.

Why the school inspection became controversial

The confrontation comes amid a dispute over access to government schools in Rajasthan.

Following earlier CJP inspections, the state education department reportedly restricted entry of outsiders and mediapersons into schools without a specific reason. Ranka criticised the move, alleging that it was intended to prevent scrutiny of government schools.

The CJP has said its campaign will continue, with teams assessing school infrastructure, academic arrangements and facilities while interacting with teachers and students.
