Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has issued a revised order allowing children under the age of 16 across the state to attend all movie screenings.
This decision alters the court's previous order issued on January 21. The next hearing on the issue has been postponed to March 17.
During the hearing of petitions concerning the increase in movie ticket prices and requests for special shows, Justice B. Vijay Sen Reddy, presiding over the bench, made key observations. The petitioner's counsel had argued that permitting children to attend late-night shows could negatively impact their health.
The court had initially agreed with this viewpoint, imposing a ban on children under 16 from attending theatres between 11 pm and 11 am. Additionally, the court stated that a final decision would be made after consulting all concerned parties.
In response, multiplex operators filed an interim petition challenging the High Court's restrictions. They contended that the limitations on children's entry were leading to financial losses. The multiplex management requested that the court lift the restrictions until a final government decision is made on the matter.
In light of these arguments, the High Court has revised its earlier ruling and has now allowed children under 16 to attend all movie shows until a final decision is issued by the government.
