New Delhi: BRS leader K Kavitha, who is currently held in Tihar Jail in connection with a money laundering case, was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital on Tuesday due to a gynecological issue and high fever, officials reported.
The 46-year-old Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader returned to prison after undergoing several tests at the hospital, they added.
Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 15 from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, related to the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case. On April 11, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended her from Tihar Jail concerning a corruption case linked to the alleged scam.
"Kavitha was taken to DDU Hospital after she developed a gynecological problem and high fever around 4:30 pm. She was observed and underwent some tests," an official stated.
After spending two hours at the hospital, she was sent back to Tihar Jail, where she is lodged in jail number 6, the official added.
Sources revealed that Kavitha frequently experiences gynecological issues in prison, and a medical team in Tihar regularly attends to her.
Earlier this month, the Delhi High Court denied her bail in the money laundering and corruption cases related to the alleged liquor scam. PTI
