New Delhi: TVK chief and actor Vijay left Delhi on Tuesday after appearing before the Central Bureau of Investigation for questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case. Sources told ANI that he will be called again for further questioning at a later date.

Vijay was questioned for nearly six hours by the agency on Monday at its heavily barricaded headquarters in the national capital. Officials said he was examined on various aspects related to the rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, where the stampede occurred.

The incident took place on September 27, 2025, claiming 41 lives and leaving more than 60 people injured. The CBI’s anti-corruption unit is handling the probe.

Sources said the agency had initially asked Vijay to appear again on Tuesday, but he sought another date, citing Pongal. The CBI agreed to his request and will issue a fresh date for the next round of questioning.

Earlier on Tuesday, Vijay was seen leaving from the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi before departing for Tamil Nadu, officials confirmed.

The CBI also questioned Tamil Nadu's former ADG (law and order) S Davidson Devasirvatham in the case.

Anticipating a huge turnout of the actor-politician's supporters, multiple units of Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces were deployed around the CBI office building to prevent any protests.

A small group of fans managed to slip in among the mediapersons gathered outside the CBI office to get a glimpse of the actor.

"We are around 40 fans who have come here to get a glimpse of the actor. We are all based in Delhi," Aiyanar, one of the fans who works as an operations manager with a Noida-based MNC, told PTI.
