Bengaluru: In a major relief for the Bengaluru Royal Challengers (RCB) in the stampede case, the Karnataka High Court on Monday said no more arrests can be made till the next hearing, which is scheduled on June 11.

On Monday, RCB moved the Karnataka High Court to dismiss a criminal complaint brought against them in connection with the stampede at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, which claimed 11 lives. The FIR was contested by RCB, which claims it was misnamed and that it is not accountable for the incident.

The event's manager, DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd, filed a suit of its own, accusing the police of poor crowd management and insufficient deployment.

Earlier, The Times of India reported that Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL), the company that controls the RCB franchise, stated that social media was used to spread the word about the restricted number of passes available for the celebrations and that pre-registration was required for free entrance.

After "extensive discussions" between DNA Networks officials, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) officials, and the police, RCSPL announced the planned victory parade and trophy celebration on RCB's social media accounts on June 4, stated the petition filed by RCSPL and its chief operating officer, Rajesh V. Menon.

Additionally, RCB's social media posts "made it clear" that, taking into account the stadium's seating capacity, admission to the stadium was contingent upon registration on the official website and the issuance of passes.

About the stampede: The Karnataka government said that a makeshift slab over a drain close to the stadium grounds fell under the weight of people standing on it. Several people were killed and multiple were injured in the rush that followed the abrupt fall, which prompted fear and panic.

Young men and women between the ages of 13 and 35 were among the deceased. Despite the Bengaluru Police's recommendation that the felicitation ceremony be organised on Sunday for logistical and security concerns, the Karnataka government reportedly proceeded with it the day after RCB's victory, sources said.

Additionally, sources also said that the RCB management tweeted about their victory parade without first consulting the authorities, and the tweet received over a million views.
