Hyderabad: Authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) were on high alert Sunday night after bomb threats targeted three incoming flights, including two international services. All three aircraft landed safely, airport officials confirmed on Monday.

The threats, sent via email to RGIA customer support, concerned flights arriving from Kannur, Frankfurt and London Heathrow. Standard airport safety protocols were immediately activated, and thorough inspections were conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and bomb disposal squads. The threats were later confirmed to be hoaxes.

The affected flights included:

  • IndiGo 6E 7178 from Kannur, which landed safely at 10:50 pm.
  • Lufthansa LH 752 from Frankfurt, landing at 2 am on Monday
  • British Airways BA 277 from Heathrow, which touched down at 5:20 am.

Police have launched an investigation to identify the sender of the threatening emails.

The incident follows a series of similar threats at RGIA this month. On 6 December, four flights received bomb threat emails, with three landing safely and Kuwait Airways KU 373 returning to Kuwait as a precaution. Earlier, Emirates from Dubai and two IndiGo flights from Kuwait and Medina were also targeted. All checks confirmed these threats were hoaxes.

Airport authorities reiterated that passenger safety remains the top priority, and all incoming flights are being screened meticulously.

This latest spate of threats highlights ongoing aviation security concerns at RGIA, prompting vigilance across domestic and international flights.
