New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to name its next national president within the next two weeks, with media reports indicating that an official announcement could come before March 15. The decision follows the completion of organisational elections in 12 states, paving the way for leadership changes at the national level.

Party sources suggest that BJP in-charges across states have been asked to submit potential names for consideration. While some states, including Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, are expected to have their unit presidents appointed first, the national president is likely to be finalised soon after.

Elections in key states such as Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Assam have already concluded. Meanwhile, Bihar is expected to retain its current leadership as the state prepares for assembly elections later this year.

The party has been in search of a successor to J.P. Nadda, whose tenure was extended until June 2024 due to the Lok Sabha elections. With his recent inclusion in the government, discussions over the new BJP chief have intensified. According to media reports, the party is keen to make the announcement before March 15, as an inauspicious period in the Hindu calendar begins soon after.
