A 19-year-old college student has alleged that she was gangraped after being forcibly administered a tablet at a private villa in Bengaluru. Police confirmed on Monday that a case has been registered against two men under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), while a counter-complaint has also been filed by the accused.

According to police, the student approached the Amruthahalli Police Station on February 22, claiming the incident occurred during the early hours of February 15 at a villa in Jakkur. She told investigators that she initially did not report the matter due to fear and alleged threats from the accused.

The complainant, a first-year degree student at a city college, stated that she became acquainted with one of the accused through Instagram in January 2026. They had met a few times at a café in Koramangala and remained in regular contact over phone and social media.

In her complaint, the student said that on February 14, after attending college and going out for dinner with a friend, she was invited to a late-night party at a villa in Jakkur by the accused. She reached the location around 1:15 am along with her friend. The two accused were present at the villa.

The FIR states that the woman alleged the men forcibly put a pink-coloured tablet into her mouth. She claimed that within minutes she began feeling dizzy, experienced sweating and blurred vision, and eventually lost consciousness.

She further alleged that when she regained partial consciousness inside a room, one of the men was touching her inappropriately. Despite resisting, she claimed both men sexually assaulted her against her will.

The student also alleged that she was locked inside the room and was dropped near a mall the next day. She claimed the accused threatened her with serious consequences if she revealed the incident or approached the police.

Police said she sought medical treatment at a city hospital on February 17. After informing her brother about the incident, she decided to file a formal complaint.

Counter case filed by accused

A day before the student lodged her complaint, a separate case was registered at the Malleshwaram Police Station based on a complaint by the two accused. They alleged that the woman and a male acquaintance attempted to extort Rs 10 lakh from them, allegedly threatening to release certain video clips.

Police officials confirmed that both cases are under investigation.

What charges have been filed against the accused?

Based on the woman’s statement, police have registered a case under:

Section 64 (rape)

Section 70(1) (gangrape)

Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation)

Section 3(5) (common intention)

A senior police officer stated that investigators are examining allegations made by both sides and that appropriate action will be taken after reviewing the evidence.
