Bengaluru: The Namma Metro is reportedly set to see a fare hike of 40-45%, following approval from the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) board on Friday.

This adjustment marks the first increase in metro fares since 2017. Currently, metro fares range between ₹10 and ₹60.

The hike comes after a government-appointed committee recently recommended the fare revision. While the BMRCL board has reportedly accepted the recommendations, the government is expected to announce additional details soon, including the specific fare adjustments across various routes and the implementation date, according to reports from the Deccan Herald.

While the minimum fare is unlikely to change significantly, the maximum fare may rise to ₹85. BMRCL estimates that the fare revision will boost its daily revenue.

No metro service between Majestic and Indiranagar on Jan 19 for three hours

BMRCL on Friday said that there will be no service on a section of the Purple Line of Namma Metro on January 19.

This is to facilitate track maintenance work between Cubbon Park and M G Road Metro stations on the Purple Line, according to BMRCL.

"To facilitate this work, metro train services will be curtailed on a section of the Purple Line for three hours, from 7 am to 10 am, between Kempegowda Majestic Metro station and Indiranagar Metro station," the release stated.
