Indian Railways is planning to introduce a new high-speed train on the busy Bengaluru–Mumbai route in June 2026, aiming to cut travel time and improve passenger comfort.

Passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mumbai are set to benefit from a new train service planned by Indian Railways. The upcoming service, expected to launch in June 2026, is designed to improve connectivity between two of India’s busiest economic hubs.
The new train is part of a wider push by Indian Railways to modernise infrastructure and reduce long-distance travel times. Upgrades in track systems and advanced rail technology are expected to help trains complete the journey in fewer hours than existing services.

Officials suggest that the service will be particularly beneficial during peak travel periods, including the monsoon season, when passenger demand remains high.
Push towards Vande Bharat Sleeper trains
The development is also linked to the upcoming rollout of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. These trains are currently undergoing final trials and are expected to significantly increase operational speed on long-distance routes.
Reports indicate that the sleeper variant may reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, positioning it among the fastest long-distance train services in the country.
The new trains are expected to feature modern passenger amenities, including improved seating and sleeping arrangements, better sound insulation, and bio-vacuum toilets. These upgrades are aimed at making long journeys more comfortable and efficient.
Improved rail connectivity between Bengaluru and Mumbai is also expected to support business travel, tourism, and trade. Faster travel times could make it easier for professionals and companies to operate between the two major cities.
As preparations continue, passengers are awaiting official announcements on schedules and ticketing. The planned service is being viewed as another step in India’s ongoing effort to modernise its railway network and improve long-distance travel efficiency.
