Jyoti Malhotra, arrested for alleged spying for Pakistan, receives a visit from her father. Investigation reveals contact with Pakistani operatives but no sensitive data access.

Hisar: Harish Malhotra, father of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was recently arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, visited her at Hisar’s Central Jail No. 2 on Tuesday, the first day of her judicial custody. As reported by The Times of India, an emotional Harish Malhotra said his daughter proclaimed her innocence but declined to share further details of their conversation.
Jyoti Malhotra was taken into judicial custody on Monday, 27 May, following the completion of a nine-day police remand. She was arrested on 17 May after a case was filed against her under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India), along with Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, which pertain to penalties and wrongful communication of classified information.
Initially, Jyoti was remanded for five days, which was extended by another four days on 22 May. Upon completion of the remand period, she was produced in court on 26 May and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan confirmed that during the investigation, there was no evidence to suggest that Jyoti Malhotra had accessed any sensitive military, defence, or strategic information. There was also no indication of her involvement in terrorist activities or affiliations with any terrorist organisation.
However, the SP stated that Malhotra was in contact with individuals identified as Pakistani intelligence operatives and was aware of their true identities. Central investigative agencies also questioned her during the course of the investigation.
Authorities are now analysing data from four of her bank accounts, mobile phone, and other gadgets.
