Fresh remarks by Bangladesh Jamaat leader Md Nurul Huda backing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have sparked a major online political controversy, with his statements on Bengal’s “independence” drawing sharp reactions across social media.

In a provocative video statement, Huda openly urged Banerjee not to accept the Assembly election results and instead declare West Bengal an independent nation.

The Bangladesh Jamaat leader launched a scathing attack on the BJP, branding it a ‘vote chor’, ‘communal”, and “rioter” party while praising Mamata for allegedly refusing to hand over power.

Escalating his rhetoric further, Huda called on the Trinamool Congress chief to “reject Delhi’s rule” and break away from what he described as “alien” and “non-Bengali” control.

He claimed that if Bengal declared independence, people across Bangladesh would rally behind the move.

Huda also made the sensational claim that 170 million Muslims in Bangladesh would support Mamata Banerjee if she announced Bengal’s separation from India.

According to him, the “whole of Bangladesh” would stand with West Bengal, and he even suggested that other Indian states should seek “freedom” from Delhi’s control.

Backing Banerjee’s reported refusal to resign, Huda hailed the move as a “brave step” and dramatically urged her to “declare war against Delhi” rather than step down from power.

The explosive remarks have rapidly gone viral online, intensifying political tensions and sparking fierce debate over foreign interference, separatist rhetoric, and the ongoing battle between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Bengal.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Salim Engineer also commented on Mamata Banerjee’s reported refusal to resign. He said the stand appeared to convey that the mandate was not genuine and alleged there had been widespread rigging and manipulation of election results.

However, he added that the constitutional process of government formation would continue regardless of whether a resignation took place.
