A brief Modi–Priyanka interaction on Wayanad marked the conclusion of Parliament’s winter session, which saw protests, key Bills passed and high legislative productivity.

New Delhi: The winter session of Parliament concluded on Friday. After the completion of House proceedings, a cordial conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi drew attention. According to reports, the discussion focused on Wayanad.
The meeting took place in the chamber of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at Parliament House in connection with the conclusion of the session. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Ministers K Ram Mohan Naidu and Chirag Paswan were among those present.
The winter session of Parliament, which began on December 1, witnessed major protests by the Opposition on various issues. Meanwhile, several Bills were passed in both Houses.
The Opposition staged strong protests against the passage of a new Bill titled “Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Livelihood Mission – Grameen” (VB-G RAM-G), proposed as a replacement for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA). The Opposition strongly objected to the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the scheme and to the additional financial burden placed on states. In addition, the House passed the “Shanti” Bill aimed at the development of the nuclear energy sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi specially congratulated members including N K Premachandran for participating in the debates with thorough preparation. Speaker Om Birla stated that the Lok Sabha recorded 111 per cent productivity during this session. Rajya Sabha chairman C P Radhakrishnan pointed out that the introduction of around 59 private members’ Bills reflected democratic engagement. Discussions were also held on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and on electoral reforms.
The next session of Parliament will be held in early 2026, beginning with the Budget Session.
