New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday has voiced his concerns regarding the involvement of a Congress leader in a massive Rs 5,600 crore drug consignment recently seized in Delhi.

Taking to micro-blogging platform X, Shah remarked that “while on one hand the Modi Government is adopting a zero tolerance policy for 'Drug Free India', the involvement of a prominent Congress leader in the Rs 5,600 crore drug consignment seized from North India is extremely dangerous and shameful. Everyone has seen the plight of youth in Punjab, Haryana and entire North India due to drugs during the rule of Congress”.

To recall, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi had alleged on Thursday that a Congress office-bearer is the prime accused in what is being described as Delhi's largest drug bust.

Condemning the actions of the Congress leader, which he stated were "extremely dangerous and shameful", Shah underscored that the previous government's failure to address drug issues has contributed to a severe crisis among the youth, saying, “the sin of Congress leaders of using their political influence to push the youth into the quagmire of drugs will never be allowed to be fulfilled by the Modi government”.

Shah reiterated the government's determination to establish a 'drug-free country' by dismantling the entire drug network, irrespective of the political stature or connections of the individuals involved in drug trafficking. “Our government is determined to make India a 'drug-free country' by destroying the entire drug network, without looking at the political position or stature of the drug dealers," he said.
