Akasa Air has unveiled plans to launch daily non-stop flights between Bengaluru and Phuket starting October 1, 2025, reinforcing its international expansion drive after introducing the Mumbai–Phuket service earlier.

Industry sources have claimed that over 100,000 travelers from Bengaluru visited Phuket, pointing to healthy demand and leaving room for more than one airline to serve this route effectively

What's driving the demand?

•Strong leisure travel appetite

Phuket is a top-tier tourist destination, celebrated for its beaches, cultural experiences, and natural beauty. Its appeal is further bolstered by visa-free or visa-on-arrival access for Indian travelers.

•Underserved yet growing corridor

While IndiGo already operates a Bengaluru–Phuket route, passenger numbers from this corridor suggest there’s more space for competition and increased services

•Bengaluru’s travel-forward demographic

With a booming IT sector and growing affluent traveler base, Bengaluru supports both leisure and business international travel. This strategic air corridor taps into that demand

The airline has carefully positioned the flight schedule for convenience and maximum eligibility:

  • QP 623: Bengaluru (06:25) → Phuket (12:40)
  • QP 624: Phuket (13:40) → Bengaluru (16:40)

This timing allows travelers to enjoy extended layovers in Phuket, whether for leisure or business

Adding this route reinforces Akasa Air’s strategic growth in Southeast Asia, where outbound travel demand from India continues to rise. With IndiGo currently the sole operator on the Bengaluru–Phuket route, the entry of Akasa introduces healthy competition, which could benefit pricing and service quality.

Besides, Thailand remains one of the most popular vacation spots for Indian travelers, and initiatives like visa exemptions have only strengthened that positioning.

Akasa Air’s launch of the Bengaluru–Phuket route taps into a proven travel demand base. Backed by substantial leisure interest, favorable visa policies, and Bengaluru’s dynamic market, the route is likely to see strong uptake. With smart scheduling and growing competition, it stands to be among the promising new international corridors from South India in 2025.
