Mumbai: Akasa Air has achieved a major milestone by flying over 25 million passengers in just over 42 months since starting operations in August 2022. This makes it the fastest Indian airline to reach this mark, highlighting its rapid growth in a highly competitive aviation market.

In a little over three and a half years, Akasa Air has expanded quickly, focusing on reliable services and a smooth travel experience. The airline currently operates a fleet of 35 aircraft and flies to 32 destinations, including six international locations.

With more routes being added, passengers now have more travel options across India and abroad.

Akasa Air’s growth is backed by an ambitious fleet plan. The airline has placed a large order for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, 226 in total. Most of these planes are expected to be delivered over the next six years, which will help the airline expand its network and meet the rising demand for air travel in India.

The airline is also working to improve comfort for passengers. Some of its newer aircraft are fitted with Safran Z200 seats, which are designed to provide better support and convenience. These seats offer improved cushioning, a 4-inch recline, and USB charging ports, making travel more comfortable for modern flyers.

Akasa Air has introduced several passenger-friendly services that have been well-received. Its “Pets on Akasa” programme has allowed more than 10,000 pets to travel safely with their owners since its launch in 2022. At the same time, its onboard meal service, Café Akasa, has served over 6.5 million meals, showing the airline’s focus on providing a pleasant and inclusive travel experience.

Speaking about the milestone, Vinay Dube said that reaching 25 million passengers in such a short time is both encouraging and meaningful. He added that the airline has achieved this while maintaining a strong focus on reliability and customer satisfaction. He also shared that Akasa Air aims to become one of the top 30 airlines in the world by the end of the decade, while continuing to grow responsibly and make air travel more accessible to people in India.

With a strong fleet order, expanding network, and focus on customer comfort, Akasa Air is positioning itself as a key player in India’s fast-growing aviation sector.

The airline’s rapid rise shows how demand for air travel is increasing in the country and how new airlines are stepping up to meet that demand with better service and more choices for passengers.
