Air India Express launches virtual interline platform as convenient flight booking option for travellers

Ease of travel has become the norm of the hour, with passengers seeking more comfort, convenience, and peaceful travel options without much hassle. Responding to this passenger demand, Air India Express has become the first airline in India to offer a ‘Virtual Interline Platform’ called ‘AIX Connect'.

AIX Connect will enable passengers to book connecting flights with Air India Express and its partner airlines directly via the airline’s official website, airindiexpress.com. This platform will aid in travel flexibility for passengers, due to which passengers will be able to design and book air tickets as per their travel itinerary. Now the passenger will be able to book connecting flights where one leg of the journey is operated by Air India Express and the other leg by the partner airline.

Singapore-based Scoot has joined Air India Express as an inaugural partner, enabling users to book flights from India and the Middle East to 60 destinations across Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

For example, passengers can now book flights from Chennai to popular destinations such as Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Incheon, Melbourne, Penang, Phuket, Sydney, and Tokyo, or even flights from Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, or Muscat to Singapore via India. Similarly, travellers from Tiruchirappalli can connect to popular destinations including Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Penang, Perth, Sydney, and Taipei. Flyers from Madurai can now book flights to Bali, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Phuket, Seoul, Sydney, and Taipei, among others.

Commenting on the platform, Ankur Garg, chief commercial officer, Air India Express, reiterated the need for seamless connectivity to new destinations.

Honoured to be Air India Express' inaugural interline partner on this virtual platform, Calvin Chan, Chief Commercial Officer, Scoot, says that this platform will provide Indian travellers with more flight options to Singapore and beyond.

The platform was developed in partnership with travel technology firm Dohop.

Air India Express is planning a robust network expansion in the Middle East and aims to partner with other airlines whose networks complement destinations with significant outbound travel demand from India, thus attracting international tourists to India.

Air India Express offers 380 daily flights from 32 domestic and 14 international destinations.

Guests can conveniently initiate booking their itineraries on the Air India Express website through the virtual interline platform and self-check-in at the transit airport. The platform also protects guests from misconnections in the event of flight delays or cancellations, ensuring peace of mind.
