New Delhi: The Centre will roll out a major set of digital healthcare initiatives on June 29, with Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda set to launch Aarogya Setu 2.0, an upgraded health platform that goes far beyond its original COVID-19 contact-tracing role.

The revamped app will serve as a comprehensive personal health record (PHR) platform, allowing users to create and manage their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), securely access and share digital health records, and exchange medical information through a consent-based system.

It will also offer AI-powered health insights, medication reminders, wearable device integration, OPD registration through Scan & Register, hospital bill payments via Scan & Pay, and family health management features.

Users will also be able to locate nearby hospitals, doctors, ambulance services, blood banks and Jan Aushadhi Kendras, besides accessing services under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), including empanelled hospital searches and digital insurance wallet features.

The Centre will simultaneously launch an upgraded Ayushman App, designed as a one-stop platform for PM-JAY beneficiaries.

The app will enable users to verify eligibility, view treatment history, locate empanelled hospitals and raise grievances digitally.

Another key rollout is Ayushman Sarathi, a WhatsApp chatbot that will provide PM-JAY services through a conversational interface, making healthcare services more accessible, especially for users with limited digital literacy.

To simplify insurance settlements, the government will introduce the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), a digital platform that standardises health insurance claim exchanges between hospitals and insurers across public and private schemes.

Officials say the platform will reduce paperwork, minimise errors and speed up claims processing.

The government will also launch a Drug Registry to standardise medicine-related information nationwide, along with Common LOINC Codes for India (CLCI): A curated set of laboratory data standards tailored for Indian healthcare to improve interoperability across digital health systems.

The launch event in New Delhi will bring together state representatives, senior government officials, healthcare experts, technology partners and industry stakeholders as part of the Centre's push to build a connected, interoperable digital healthcare ecosystem.
