Bhopal: The suspicious death case of model and actress Twisha Sharma has taken a major turn after a Bhopal court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of her absconding husband Samarth Singh. Following the court order, Bhopal Police announced a cash reward on Monday of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensified its probe into the high-profile case.

Twisha, 33, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, months after marrying Samarth in December 2025. The couple reportedly met through a dating app in 2024. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, torture and murder, allegations denied by the accused side.

The Sessions Court rejected Samarth Singh’s plea after hearing arguments from both sides. During the hearing, his counsel questioned Twisha’s mental health and claimed she was undergoing psychiatric treatment, arguments strongly opposed by the actress’s family lawyer, who raised concerns over possible evidence tampering.

While the court denied relief to Samarth, it had earlier granted anticipatory bail to his mother Giribala Singh, who is also named in the FIR.

Misrod ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, who is heading the SIT investigation, confirmed that police teams were trying to trace the absconding husband. He also said the investigation is being carried out strictly under dowry harassment and abetment-related sections mentioned in the FIR.

The case has sparked massive public attention after serious allegations and counterclaims surfaced from both families.

Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, welcomed the rejection of Samarth’s anticipatory bail but said justice would only be complete when all accused are punished. He also expressed fears that the influential family could seek relief from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The controversy deepened after contents of Samarth’s bail plea went viral on social media. The plea allegedly described Twisha as a psychiatric patient and drug addict and claimed she suffered from depression and substance dependency.

To counter dowry allegations, the accused family submitted online transaction records ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000, claiming they regularly supported Twisha financially.

However, Twisha’s relatives strongly denied the allegations. Her cousin Meenakshi claimed the actress was cheerful before marriage but suffered severe mental harassment afterward, allegedly losing 15 kilograms. The family also alleged the harassment worsened after Twisha lost her work-from-home job and became pregnant.

The bail plea further claimed Twisha had suffered a miscarriage and alleged she had briefly gone missing during a Delhi trip in April.

What has the SIT investigation revealed so far?

The police probe has also come under scrutiny after ACP Kashyap admitted that the rope allegedly used in the hanging was not sent to AIIMS Bhopal during the post-mortem examination due to an investigation lapse.

According to the preliminary AIIMS Bhopal report, the death appeared to be a case of hanging suicide. However, Twisha’s family has alleged there were multiple injury marks on her body, raising suspicion of murder and possible destruction of evidence.

Kashyap confirmed that action would be taken against the investigating officer responsible for the lapse.

Addressing the media after the court ruling, Giribala Singh claimed Twisha was suffering from depression and psychological illness. She described the death as a “nightmare” for the family and accused Twisha’s relatives of preventing her last rites from being performed.

Meanwhile, Twisha’s family has continued protests demanding a fresh and independent post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi. On Sunday, family members staged a protest outside the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Bhopal.

Officials said the SIT will investigate allegations related to dowry harassment, physical assault and alleged attempts to destroy evidence after Twisha’s death.
