Nicholas Singh, an Indian-origin man wanted on Canada’s most-wanted list for armed robbery and other offences, has been arrested in Toronto

Toronto: Nicholas Singh, a 23-year-old Indian-origin man convicted of armed robbery and other serious offences, has been arrested in Toronto after evading authorities for 18 months. Singh had been on Canada’s “most wanted” list following his breach of statutory release on May 31, 2024, and was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant.
Toronto Police located Singh on Friday night near Bathurst and Dupont streets around 11:20 pm local time. Officers allege he was in possession of a firearm despite a prior court order prohibiting him from owning weapons. Police reportedly recovered a firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition from the vehicle, and Singh was arrested without incident.

Singh, who is currently serving a sentence of five years, five months, and 10 days, now faces multiple firearm-related charges. These include possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence or registration, possessing a firearm without the required licence, possessing a prohibited weapon or device without authorisation, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, possessing a loaded regulated firearm, and possessing a firearm with an altered serial number.
The arrest concludes an 18-month manhunt and underscores the risks posed by offenders unlawfully at large. Authorities emphasised that strict monitoring of high-risk individuals is crucial for public safety.
Singh had previously been featured in an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) appeal in August 2025, highlighting the ongoing search for him after breaching his statutory release. Police confirmed that he was taken into custody safely and that investigations into the firearm-related offences are ongoing.
The successful operation marks a significant step in enforcing Canada-wide warrants and demonstrates continued vigilance by Toronto Police and the OPP in tracking high-risk offenders.
