Tiruchirappalli: A 14-year-old girl was found unconscious on a roadside in the Keeraikadai Bazaar area of Tiruchirappalli on Wednesday evening, triggering a major police investigation.
Following the incident, police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested a 43-year-old car driver identified as Mariselvan, a resident of Sivaganga district.

According to Tiruchirappalli City Police, the girl was rushed for medical treatment and remains under intensive care. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Probe underway into circumstances of incident
Police said investigators are examining all possible angles, including whether the girl was subjected to sexual assault or any other offence. Medical examinations and forensic procedures are expected to play a key role in establishing the facts of the case.

Following the incident, the girl's parents and relatives gathered outside a government hospital and demanded swift action against those responsible.
