Pathanamthitta, Kerala: In a brutal incident, a home nurse was arrested for assaulting an elderly Alzheimer’s patient in Adoor.

The victim, Sasidharan Pillai, a retired ex-serviceman, was subjected to a cruel attack in his home by Vishnu, a nurse employed through a private nursing agency.

The incident took place two days ago at Sasidharan Pillai's residence in Thattayil, where he had been living a quiet, retired life after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. At the time of the assault, Pillai’s other relatives were away in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to reports, Vishnu, a native of Kunnicode, Pathanapuram, violently stripped Pillai, dragged him across the floor, and beat him mercilessly. Pillai fell unconscious from the brutal assault.

Vishnu, in a bid to cover up the violence, contacted the victim’s relatives and falsely claimed that Pillai had fallen and lost consciousness. His relatives rushed to the house and admitted him to a private hospital in Adoor.

Upon examination, doctors found that the injuries did not align with the explanation of a simple fall and alerted his relatives. Suspicious of the nurse’s claims, the family checked the CCTV footage from the house, which revealed the horrifying truth that Pillai had been subjected to brutal physical torture by Vishnu.

Shocked by the assault, the relatives immediately filed a complaint with the Kodumon police, who took Vishnu into police custody.

Pillai, 68, had retired from service two years ago due to his Alzheimer’s condition. Since then, he has been living in the flat, relying on home care services for daily assistance.
