Kochi: Two individuals from Tamil Nadu were taken into custody for illegally recording and distributing movies that were released in theatres using their mobile phones. The arrests were made with the assistance of theatre owners in Thiruvananthapuram, following a complaint filed by film producer Supriya Menon with the Kakkanad Cyber Police.
The police reported that the accused had been recording and distributing several films, including 'Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil'. A pirated copy of this film was widely circulated just two days after its release. Further evidence emerged showing people watching the pirated version on their mobile phones while travelling by train. This prompted Supriya Menon, the producer of the film, to file a complaint, which led to the subsequent cyber police investigation.
