Kozhikode: Muhammad Iqbal, the father of Shahbaz, a Class X student from Thamarassery who was brutally murdered by a gang of school students, has reiterated his stance that elders were also involved in the conspiracy and execution of his son’s murder. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he mentioned that the police had assured him that the culprits would be punished at all costs. “The government should set an example by identifying and punishing the culprits in this case,” he said. Iqbal further emphasized that more individuals were involved in the incident.

“If the weapons used in the attack are recovered from the house of the accused, it will be clear that the parents were aware of the incident,” Iqbal stated. He also pointed out that a similar clash had occurred last year, but it was resolved. However, this year, the situation tragically escalated. “It is uncertain how cruel and brutal it could become next year. Such incidents can only be prevented if the real culprits are punished,” Iqbal added.

Iqbal mentioned that he is satisfied with the progress of the police investigation so far. Meanwhile, another student, a 10th-grade pupil, was arrested on Tuesday morning in connection with Shahbaz's murder. The police have stated that this student was also involved in the conflict, and further interrogation is underway.

The police are investigating the role of elders, including the parents, and the conspiracy behind the incident. However, these allegations have not yet been confirmed.
