Angamaly: The remand report in the case of Ivin Jijo’s death has revealed that the CISF officers deliberately ran over him with a car, intending to kill. The report states that Ivin was dragged for 37 metres after being run over.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday night. A dispute that began over an overtaking manoeuvre escalated into the fatal attack. At the time of the altercation, Ivin was reportedly recording the scene on his phone. When the accused attempted to flee in their car, Ivin allegedly told them to wait until the police arrived. According to the report, this provoked the accused.

The report states that the first accused, Vinay Kumar Das, and the second accused, Mohan Kumar, both originally from Bihar, hit Ivin with the car with clear intent to kill. Ivin, who landed on the bonnet, was dragged for nearly a kilometre. The accused then deliberately applied the brakes, causing him to fall from the bonnet. After this, he was run over and dragged for another 37 metres, according to the remand report.

The report further says that although Ivin cried out for help, the car did not stop.

The accused were presented before the Angamaly court and remanded for 14 days. Ivin Jijo’s funeral was held at St Augustine’s Church in Thuravoor. He worked as a chef at Casino Air Caterers and Flight Services Group in Nedumbassery. On the night of the incident, Ivin had left his home in Thuravoor for work in his car.

The series of events began around 10 pm on the Thombra Link Road, located about one kilometre from the Nedumbassery airport. Both Ivin’s car and that of the CISF officers were heading from this road towards the Airport-Mattur Road. It is reported that the two vehicles brushed against each other while Ivin attempted to overtake on the narrow Thombra road, leading to the confrontation.
