In a major breakthrough, Counter Intelligence, Jalandhar, has foiled a target killing plot in Punjab by arresting three members of a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module (a Khalistani militant organisation). The arrested individuals have been identified as Jagroop Singh alias Jagga, Sukhjit Singh alias Sukha, and Navpreet Singh alias Nav. Authorities also recovered four sophisticated weapons along with ammunition.
Terror module linked to international handlers
Preliminary investigations indicate that the module was being directed by USA-based gangster Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Nawashehria, a close aide of Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda. Another associate, Laadi Bakapuria, is believed to be operating from Greece.
A case has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar. Further investigations are ongoing to trace the network's backward and forward linkages and dismantle its operations.
Arms and ammunition recovered
Officials recovered the following weapons and ammunition:
- One Glock 9mm pistol with one magazine and six cartridges
- One PX5 Storm (Beretta) 30-bore pistol with one magazine and four bullets
- One country-made 30-bore pistol with one magazine and four cartridges
- One country-made 32-bore pistol with one magazine and eight cartridges
- Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover additional links to the terror network.
