Khalistan Liberation Army (KLA) has claimed responsibility for the recent IED explosion outside the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Headquarters in Jalandhar, intensifying security concerns across the state after another suspected blast rocked Amritsar late Tuesday night.

In a letter issued by the outfit, the KLA stated that the attack was carried out to avenge the death of militant Ranjit Singh, who was killed by Punjab Police during an encounter in Gurdaspur district in February this year.

The group alleged that Singh had been linked to the murder of a Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a Home Guard jawan in Adhian village.

The terror outfit, however, made exaggerated claims regarding casualties in the Jalandhar blast.

Official sources have rejected the claim, confirming that the casualty figures mentioned by the group are factually incorrect.

The development comes as Punjab remains on high alert following another blast-like incident near the cantonment area in Khasa, Amritsar, around 10:50 pm on Tuesday.

Though no casualties were reported, the incident triggered an immediate response from police, army personnel, and bomb disposal teams.

Speaking to ANI, Amritsar SP Aditya S Warrier said police received information about a loud explosion-like sound near the cantonment area, after which senior officials rushed to the location along with army personnel stationed there.

“The Bomb Disposal Squad conducted checks at the spot, and the Forensic Science Laboratory team collected evidence for examination. Samples have been sent for testing to determine the nature and cause of the blast,” he said.

Authorities are now investigating how many explosions occurred and the exact nature of the incident.

Security agencies have stepped up vigilance across Punjab amid fears of renewed militant activity and possible attempts to disturb peace in the border state.
