
Bengaluru: A 29-year-old professional was brutally assaulted and robbed by two men in Bengaluru last week, police said. The incident occurred near Nayandahalli Metro Station on Outer Ring Road late at night.
According to media reports, the victim, identified as Varun C, was walking home after work when an autorickshaw driving against traffic approached him. The driver, accompanied by another man, began aggressively harassing him. Feeling threatened, Varun tried to walk away, but the duo pursued him on foot.

The men caught up with Varun and began shouting and threatening him. They forced him into the autorickshaw, and when he resisted, they brutally assaulted him, inflicting serious facial injuries.

The attackers then forced Varun to unlock his phone and transfer Rs 24,000 to them using a QR code payment app. Despite his injuries, Varun managed to escape and seek help from passersby. The assailants threatened to kill him if he resisted or called for help, leaving him terrified and traumatised. After the robbery, they returned his phone and fled the scene.
Varun managed to reach a nearby traffic signal and contacted his father, who rushed him to a private hospital. He underwent surgery to treat facial fractures and is recovering, although he sustained serious injuries.
The Byatarayanapura police have registered a case of robbery and are investigating the incident. While Varun could not recall the autorickshaw’s registration number due to the trauma of the attack, police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
